Well, the final list of exhibitors has been confirmed. There were a few tough choices – some really good work we would have loved to have included – but, ultimately, the exhibition had to work as a whole and, quite simply, it would have been unfair to the artists and to the detriment of the work to try and squeeze everything in. So, from the 58 proposals we received, 19 made the final selection. And, it’s a wide ranging selection: we’ve got sculpture, installation, live art, film, photography... oh, and one painter. We’re also including work by two fine art students who graduated this year from the University of Cumbria – so bang up-to-date.

I’ve drafted out my first idea for how the space might work and have sent it to the artists for their comments. I’m now researching how to control heat in one of the installations, investigating types of monitors for another and working out how much building work can be done in just 3 days. Like all exhibition installations, it feels a bit like Changing Rooms, except without the BBC’s budget.
