Only two weeks to go until the 30 April deadline – and artists’ proposals are beginning to trickle in. I’m still slightly unsure as to whether we’ll be inundated or otherwise but, from the artists I’ve spoken to, I’m expecting some very strong proposals and I anticipate that Sedition is going to be a really exciting show.
I’m also pleased about the selectors, Laurence Lane and Jamie Shovlin. As co-director of artist-led space, The International 3, Laurence has played a pivotal role in supporting and raising the profile of the art scene in Manchester. Jamie is an artist who’s exhibited internationally and whose work encompasses traditional and new media, installation and performance; he’s also worked at Tullie House. In terms of Sedition’s ambitions to raise the profile of contemporary visual arts practice in Cumbria, I think these two will be very sympathetic.
So... watch this space.
